The Artist: Caitlyn Grabenstein

Caitlyn Grabenstein is a renowned collage artist known for her signature blend of photorealism and surreal, sci-fi-inspired imagery. She began as an analog collage artist—hand-cutting, arranging, and layering physical materials—before evolving into a digital process that maintains that same meticulous, constructed approach. Today, she builds each piece by sourcing and cutting individual elements from royalty-free imagery, then layering and refining them in Photoshop and Lightroom until they merge into a seamless, fluid composition. Since 2016, she has created over 3,000 original collage works and has built a global audience of over one million followers.

Her art has been commissioned by major brands including Netflix, Adobe, Porsche, Sony Music, and Unilever, and has been featured by Vogue, Goop, Poosh, Warner Brothers, WIRED Magazine, Thrillist, Glamour, and more. Caitlyn’s distinctive visual style—where retro nostalgia meets cosmic imagination—has earned her recognition across both commercial and fine art spaces.

In 2025, Caitlyn published her debut sci-fi thriller One Red Arrow, Part I, which reached the Top 100 Conspiracy Thrillers on Amazon and hit #1 in Superhero Fantasy (Kindle Free Store).

Beyond her personal artwork and writing, Caitlyn is a professional designer and digital marketer based in the Hartford, Connecticut area. In 2019, she founded CLG Design Co., a creative studio offering art direction, branding, and marketing services, and has completed more than 150 freelance projects.

Earlier in her career, she worked as a certified SharePoint designer and website developer for a government contractor, where she led a full-scale website redesign, SEO overhaul, and analytics implementation. Prior to that, she worked at Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) on Nashville’s Music Row, rising to Senior Business Affairs Coordinator in the Legal Department.

Caitlyn’s entrepreneurial journey began in 2013 when she founded BANDADE, a charitable music initiative that collaborated with artists including The Goo Goo Dolls, Imagine Dragons, Jason Isbell, Maren Morris, Ingrid Michaelson, Alabama Shakes, and Florence Welch. The project hosted more than 50 charity shows with 60+ artists, raising thousands of dollars for cancer research.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. She now divides her time between creating surreal fine art and writing, while living with her husband, son, and animals on their small Connecticut farm, Crying Wolf Homestead.
